History

Alongside Hachimanyama Castle,
built by Hidetsugu Toyotomi,
the castle town gave rise to
Omi merchants and prospered
through their enterprise.

Originally constructed as a tatami shop,
the former Kita residence dates back to 1829.
Watching over the town since ancient times,
the 190-year-old residence is
reborn as Hatago Wakatsu.
